PRODUCT LIABILITY

This relates to the liability of manufacturers and/or suppliers of consumer products which are unsafe and cause injury.

The Consumer Protection Act of 1987 covers most of the cases likely to arise from faulty or unsafe products which cause injury The great advantage of this Act is that, in broad terms, it provides for what is called “strict liability” and avoids the necessity of the injured person having to prove fault in connection with the manufacture of the product.

If you can show that the product itself is defective then you have a right to claim compensation.
