BRAIN INJURY COMPENSATION
Each year, over a million people suffer a head injury that requires a visit to a casualty department. Something like 135,000 people are admitted to hospital due to the seriousness of their injury. Most of these injuries occur in road traffic accidents, falls and accidents at home or at work.
Figures obtained by
Headway, the brain injury association, show that the people most at risk are in the age-group 15-29 and over 65. Those aged between 15 and 29 are three times more likely to sustain a brain injury than any other group. Men are two to three times more likely to suffer a brain injury than women. This rises to five times more likely in the 15-29 age range. Of those that are admitted, 85% will have sustained a mild head injury, 10% a moderate head injury and 5% a severe head injury.
Brain injuries can be complicated and generally need to be considered differently from other types of injury. They can often be life threatening and life changing, and the consequences for the injured person and their family can be devastating. At South West Accident Helpline we will always endeavour to understand the complexities of your injury and how your life is likely to be affected by it. A specialist team of solicitors will work on your claim on your behalf to achieve the highest level of compensation for you.
We realise that whilst obtaining compensation is important, those who have suffered a brain injury, and their families, need additional help and support that may not normally be readily available to many accident victims and their families. This is a service we pride ourselves on, and treat with paramount importance.
